Donno zen Dorren was said to be the strongest man this side of the Simplon Pass. It was said he could lift a table with his teeth alone. When Saracens attempted to occupy the Simplon Pass in the 10th century, Donno was sent to stop the invaders. He impressed the Saracens with his roar alone, even from afar.
It turned out that they hadn't intended to seize the pass at all. They were merely passing through. As a gesture of peace, they allowed Donno to take the Italian wine barrels from the customs house. He tucked one under his left arm and one under his right. With four fingers, he grasped another on each side. Then he marched back to Brig.
There, people believed that Donno had defeated the Saracens in battle. The wine was celebrated as a victory drink. Zen Dorren then tried his hand at winemaking and developed his own wine, "Donno Zen Dorren," which is still said to possess special powers today.
