The Legend of Wine ( listen )
Donno zen Dorren was said to be the strongest man on this side of the Simplon. It was said that he could lift a table with just his teeth. When Saracens tried to occupy the Simplon Pass in the 10th century, Donno was sent to stop the invaders. He impressed the Saracens from afar with his roar alone.
It turned out that they had no intention of taking the pass. They were just passing through. As a sign of peace, they allowed Donno to take the Italian wine barrels from the customs house. He put one under his left arm and one under his right arm. He grabbed another one with four fingers. Then he marched back to Brig with them.
There, people believed that Donno had defeated the Saracens in battle. The wine was celebrated as a victory drink. Zen Dorren then tried his hand at winemaking and developed his own wine, "Donno Zen Dorren," which is still said to have special powers today.
