The legend of wine ( listen )
Johanneli is said to have been the first innkeeper on the Brigerberg in the 17th century. After closing time, she would secretly top up the wine barrel with water. When a guest caught Johanneli in the act one evening, she was banished from the village. She was never seen again.
Back then, it was said she would have to remain eternally as a lost soul in the glacial waters to atone for her grave sin. But since the Aletsch Glacier began to melt, it is said that Johanneli has been freed. Presumably, that's why the wine is available again, only this time it is said to be cleansed of her guilt.
Johanneli Fi, Heida AOC VS
A very beautiful wine with a clear, radiant pale yellow color, opening with notes of gooseberry and unripe pineapple. On the palate, this full-bodied white wine reveals a wonderfully balanced interplay of sweetness and acidity, enriched with aromas of melon and unripe pineapple.
