The legend of the wine
A hunter from the Valais once met a mountain spirit. The spirit showed him a crack in a rock where the droplet of gold was. Every spring the hunter was allowed to put a small jug there, which was always full when he returned in autumn. This made the hunter very happy and he invested his land in gold. But his greed for gold grew more and more, so that already in summer he walked to the rock to see how much gold had already accumulated. But his disappointment was great when he found neither the rock nor the crack on that day. The hunter died long ago. However, it was heard from an old shepherdess that a few unknown visitors are said to have seen the droplet of gold again. Only those who are lucky will be able to enjoy this rare drop.
Droplet of gold Johannisberg AOC VS
Wine description
- Grape: Johannisberg (Sylvaner)
- An elegant, sweet white wine. Pronouncedly fruity and harmonious with almond aromas and pleasant acidity. Mild on the palate.
- Temperature: 8 – 12 °C
- Ready to drink: 1 – 2 years
- Goes well with: Aperitif, fish, shellfish, asparagus dishes, starters, saffron dishes and cheese
terroir
Different vineyards with medium-heavy soils of loamy silt around Visperterminen and Visp. Thanks to the different altitudes, the combined grapes produce a welcome mix of freshness and opulence in the glass.
Culinary Recommendation
A wine that goes perfectly with aperitif platters, asparagus, spicy fish dishes, dishes with saffron as well as cheese fondue and raclette.
Vinification
Controlled alcoholic fermentation, followed by a second, biological fermentation in a stainless steel tank to break down the malic acid. The wine is then temporarily cooled down so that the acidity in the wine is further reduced to just 4.2 g/l, thanks to the formation of tartar.
