The Legend of Wine ( listen )
A young man from Gletsch, who was not blessed with worldly goods, finally wanted to marry his sweetheart. In order to be able to build a home for himself and his bride, he looked for work with a winemaker further down the valley.
One day his master asked him how it was that despite the hard work in the vineyard and in the wine cellar he always had a happy song on his lips and whistled cheerful tunes. The young man answered: "When I think of my beloved, my heart bubbles with joy, and until I can be with her, I give all my love and longing to the vines!" "Then these grapes will become a very special wine for your wedding!" replied the winemaker and taught the young man how to make an excellent sparkling wine.
And so, to this day, people still tell stories about this fabulously lavish wedding celebration and the delicious sparkling wine, whose fizzy bubbles danced happily on the tongues of the wedding guests and made them laugh and sing.
