The legend of wine ( listen )
Two Valais winegrowers claimed that each of them produced the best red wine in the Rhône Valley . They praised their own grape varieties and their unparalleled craftsmanship above all else, and at every opportunity, they found fault with each other's wines. Over the years, this escalated into a bitter feud that horribly divided the two families.
Two young people suffered particularly from the conflict – the daughter of one winegrower had fallen in love with the son of the other, and the two lovers longed to marry. But both their fathers refused to give their blessing. The unhappy couple, driven to despair, soon found themselves at their wits' end and decided to confide their sorrows to the village priest and seek divine guidance. He promptly summoned the two feuding winegrowers and spoke to their consciences.
But the two old feuding fathers remained irreconcilable and showed no remorse, so the two lovers secretly left their village to seek their happiness far away. They only returned after their fathers had died of grief and their unyielding contentiousness. As a sign of reconciliation between the two families, the young couple henceforth cellared the grapes of these two varieties together, and a wine was created that united the best of both.
Walerhone Assemblage AOC VS
The longer the wine breathes, the more beautiful and multifaceted its aromas become. Tobacco and roasted notes blend most pleasantly with a diverse array of aromas including berries, plums, cloves, cinnamon, cherries, and chocolate. A complex wine whose tannins provide a perfect balance to the intense fruitiness.
