The legend of the wine
Two winegrowers from Valais claimed that each of them had the best red wine in the Rhone valley. They praised their own grape variety and their unsurpassed craftsmanship above all else and never had a good word to say about the other's wine at every available opportunity. In the course of the years this turned into a bitter dispute, which divided the families of the two in the most terrible way.
Two young people suffered particularly from the dispute - the daughter of one had lost her heart to the son of the other winegrower, and the two lovers felt a deep desire to marry. But both their fathers refused to give their blessing. The unhappy couple were so desperate that they were desperate that they decided to complain to the village priest and seek divine advice from him. Without further ado, he called the quarrelling vine growers to him and had a serious talk with them.
But the two old squabblers remained irreconcilable and showed no sense of reason, so the two lovers left their village secretly to find their happiness in a faraway place. They only returned when their fathers had died of grief and unrelenting quarrelsomeness. As a sign of the reconciliation of the two families, the young couple began to cellar the grapes of these two grape varieties together, and a wine was created that combined the best of both.
